We are thrilled to see the first results of our new project supporting primary school libraries. Congratulations to Mrs Alex Moore and her staff at St James CofE Infant School, Whitehaven, Cumbria. Discover how a new project helped St James CofE Infant School transform a former intervention space into an inspiring school library for pupils.

Alex writes: ‘as you can see the library has been transformed into a high quality, welcoming space, accessible to both parents and children in the heart of our school. This area radiates the importance of reading and the classes enjoy a weekly timetabled story telling session in there. In addition the library is used for phonics teaching, selecting curriculum matched books and selecting book banded reading books.
When visitors come to the school they often comment on how lovely the space has become and how it promotes the love of reading for all.
